Melbourne Tram Museum
Join newCardigan for a visit to the Museum and guided tour (hopefully). As the museum is volunteer-run, please bring a gold coin to pay the entry fee.
Getting there
Catch the tram! Routes 70 or 75
Car parking is very limited.
Covid Safety
The museum is a large tram depot with some open doors. We recommend wearing a high quality face mask whilst inside the museum. Drinks afterwards will be on the rooftop bar of Union House. If you feel unwell with Covid-like symptoms, please give this event a miss.
Accessibility
While the depot and our collection reflect an era prior to the introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act, parts of the depot are still accessible to wheelchairs and those with limited mobility. The training room, main room, depot gift shop/reception, and a defined pathway following the outer perimeter of the depot shed can all be accessed by wheelchairs and mobility aids.
Due to its former status as an operating depot and the heritage nature of the collection, it may not be possible to access all the walkways between tramcar roads, view all of the trams in the collection, or access individual tramcars without assistance.
Continue the conversation
Join us for a drink and a snack afterwards at Union House, 270 Swan Street, Richmond. Please note this is a short tram ride or quite a long walk from the Museum.
