Farewell cardiParty at Australian Queer Archives
Join us for a tour of the Australian Queer Archives (AQuA) which has been based in the Victorian Pride Centre in St Kilda for five years.
Established in 1978, AQuA is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation holding the world’s largest archive of Australian LGBTIQ+ histories. From personal papers to posters and badges, AQuA preserves these stories, so they’re never forgotten. Come and learn about our various homes over the years, the role of queer library workers in the history of the Archives’ (and a little bit of local queer library histories more broadly), their upcoming conference, collaborations with mainstream GLAM sector organisations, opportunities to get involved and support the preservation of local LGBTIQA+ histories, and more fun!
This will be the last ever event held by newCardigan before we wind up. Join us to check out AQuA and celebrate newCardigan’s 11 years of bringing GLAMR workers together.
