cardiCast Reprise – COASIT Italian Museum

Our August cardiParty was at the wonderful Chinese Museum where we had a fabulous tour and talk about the current exhibition.

However, due to technical difficulties we couldn’t record the event on the night (never fear, we will have an interview with the Curator, Ethel Villafranca, very soon) but as we were at the Chinese Museum some of us couldn’t help but recall the Italian Museum we visited oh so long ago now in 2016.

So, instead of the recording of our August cardiParty, we invite you to listen, or refresh your memory, to our awesome cardiParty at the Museo Italiano.

Enjoy.

cardiCast Episode 60 – Matthew Coller – Temporal Earth

Melbourne newCardigan cardiParty

Recorded Live

Our July Melbourne cardiParty saw Matt Coller take us through a demo of Temporal Earth, a data visualisation of Australian colonial history. Time-machine.Earth combines a virtual globe with a multi-scale timeline to enable interactive exploration of cultural data throughout space and time.

Matt took us on a brief tour through the animated layers and showed us convict arrivals, European explorations and pastoral expansion, gold-rush sites, railways, telegraph lines and more.

Our June Melbourne cardiParty was hosted by Archie Boulter, a Melbourne-based entrepreneur and LGBTIQA+ advocate, who shared their experiences creating “queer spaces” within the GLAM sector. Archie  discussed their recent efforts co-leading the establishment of LGBTIQA+ Advisory Groups across Museums Victoria (Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum & Scienceworks), as well as co-founding the social enterprise called Queer Town, which was selected to take part in the Foundry658 Accelerator program, run by ACMI and the State Library.

GLAM Blog Club – June 2019

May was our month to talk about Pleasure.

Interestingly this seemed to be a difficult topic with not very many blogs posted. Could this be because it is tough to talk about work as a pleasure or are we all secretly unhappy in our GLAMRous working lives? Or maybe, sometimes, there are more pleasurable things to do than blog about Pleasure?!

Whatever the reason, here are some thoughts on Pleasure … for your pleasure. (Sorry!)

Anne vlogged on the difference between Happiness and Pleasure, how we define these and where does chocolate cake fit in! Love the book recommendation and happiness tips too 🙂

Melly reflects on her time on desk and the pleasure she gets from helping her people.

And on a slightly more sombre note, Clare shares her loss of pleasure in reading and how she plans to get her reading groove back!

Our June topic was suggested by Michaela and is …Radical.

This month you could reflect on how your GLAM spaces could be more radical, or how they are already radical and what this means to you and your organisation. Do the people visiting your GLAM space know how radical you are? Is it possible for your GLAM space, organisation or yourself to be radical? Is being radical political? Social? Personal?

However you choose to interpret the theme, make sure you tag your blog post ‘GLAM Blog Club’ and your social media links with ‘#GLAMBlogClub’ – and of course if you haven’t already done so, register your blog.

We can’t wait to see what you write!
